USS LeeHaven and the Leak

Generally I run a tight ship. Tonight we sprung a leak.

I received a note from a friend stating they sent me photos on Tagged. While I thought we were sharing "quilting" it was secretly copying the contents of my personal address book. Very evil. Naturally I worked frantically to avert the crisis. Did I avert the crisis, fend off the intruder and avoid complete invasion? I have no idea.

But I do know this....

I did not intend for it to send you this:

Karendianne Lee sent you photos on Tagged Want to see the photos?

I apologize deeply for any and all horrific trouble this may caused you.

Clueless at this end of the world! No funky tagging has occurred...

Good luck with the dang virus!

I got it. Opened it. But did not fill out the info they wanted. I hope that stopped it! It got me because I had recieved an e-mail from you recently,LOL!

I think I got the same e-mail as you -- I took a look but refused to fill out the info. Phew! Those things are too deceptive!

Went to snopes. It's apparantly not a virus.

Yup, I got that message from you and also from Paula the Quilter - have deleted the nasties from my mail program and hope there is no further issue (for you or for me or for anyone else).

Computers are wonderful, except [fill in the blank]

Oh my, I received yours, Paula the Quilter and two others. Kinda figured they were spam kinda junk. Not to fear - we have life jackets! 8-)))

Now I am wondering if others will received that message from me? Blogger better get busy and save us.

I did the same thing! Got it from you and others from my email list! As soon as I saw 'they' had my email list, I started the back track. I just wrote a post on it, then saw you had too in my sidebar. I put what info I could find into my post. But there are many copycat programs out there. Tagged is right!

So I've worked with computers for years and years. I should have known better - but we had recently talked about some upcoming photos - arghhhh - they got me! But I've put out feelers and I think I averted it taking my address book because no one else has gotten anything from them/me.
Great work, Captain Lee - I think crisis has been averted and I award you 10 gold stars for saving the day!
Cheers!
PS tried to go to Lesthook's link, but it wouldn't allow me access.

I got nothing from you - so maybe this wasn't as horrid as you thought - maybe your ship is sailing along more smoothly now.

Speaking of ships - the other day I was talking with our SIL - Ben's daddy - and he was telling me of the new laptop he got. I said "when my ship comes in I'll get one too". Ben was sitting in his carseat with the door still open and he looked at me and said "Grammy, I didn't know you had a ship" - pretty smart for a 4 year old.

I got it. Clicked on yes, but did not fill out the info. How far did you go? Did you just click on YES or did you fill in the info?

Yeah, I got hijacked too after getting several emails with it. Wrote a post on it. It is a legitimate social networking site, but a nasty way of having you 'join'. Hopefully, I've gotten rid of the account in my 'name'. It is not a virus, just a nasty spam type site. *sigh*

Karen said...

Yep, I got one with your name on it but deleted it. Just didn't look right. I am glad to hear it isn't a virus.

I saw it in my email but my Mom (thanks Mom) warned me not to open it and told me to look at your blog. So thankfully it didn't get me. This is horrible!

Mary said...

Nope I didn't get one either so sounds like its not as bad as it could have been. It's such a pain when this kind of stuff happens isn't it?

QuiltSue said...

I did get it, but was wary (we've recently had a virus that virtually wiped out both our laptops here) so haven't touched it and was going to email you and check. Thanks for warning us.

Yepper...me too along wth Paula The Quilter. I knew better or hesitated I should say and then deleted away!

Me too. Arrgghh!

I got it too and immediately thought this was something I should not open, so I didn't open it (thank goodness)! Do these people ever stop this crap?

Rose Marie said...

Got yours plus from 2 others....didn't open the message and hope that it stops there.

I received 3 of those emails yesterday, and I thought they looked weird. I opened one and my computer wouldn't open it all the way, thank goodness! I don't know why there are people out there doing this crazy stuff! I put it in my Junk file, which is where that kind of stuff belongs. It's all good here.

Well, apparently I'm the naive, gullible one, because I not only opened it, I filled it out too. Guess I'll be writing a post like yours to everyone I know!

I was a bit surprised to see four folks had each sent me four photos? What are the chances?!

I got the email from "you" and then once I started into the site it showed up I had multiple blogging friends on the site. I deleted my automatically created profile after I kept receiving bizarre emails from the site. Sneaky internet prank sites. Don't worry no one blames you. I'm sure I sent out emails too.

Luckily I got three of those - I knew that htree people could not be sending me the exact same thing!
