Cheddar Design RAK

No Call Sunday

Good Sunday Morning. Good "no call Sunday" Morning. Did you know about this? It's just kinda nice if you don't call on Sunday. Folks need a break. Some of us have an unwritten rule called "no call Sunday." Unless you're of a certain rank, or have a certain need, it's "no phone call" day. I enjoy the fact that the phone doesn't ring for at least one day. I'd rather get an email than a phone call on a Sunday. West Coast Family - free pass - but that's pretty much about it.

CHEDDAR PATCHES

Now, yesterday evening and today I'll be working on my Cheddar 16 patches as well as the last two rows on Cabin Tracks. Liz and I were chatting about the setting for the Cheddar patches. She came up with this design which I haven't committed to but I really like it and those little nine patches in there are just too cute!

You know what I dig the most ? She caught my style. This is something I would create. It feels good and I'm not just talking about the design. I'm talking about about the RAK. You know, this act of creating and giving is a real "healing." I felt a sense of health and healing thru Liz's kindness here the moment I opened the photo. I'll leave it at that.

CABIN TRACKS ~ NAMES

Now, onto Cabin Tracks. I wrote a while back regarding my quilt name. A very important part of the process. Take for instance my quilt "Scrappy Stars" on my sidebar. The real *karendianne. name for that Quilt was "Mayberry" but it never took so it's called now and forever "Amy's Stars." I digress. Back to the renaming of Cabin Tracks.

Getting ahead of myself since I'm not on the border situation yet but names take time. Nothing solid yet but sticking with the theme(s) of Kings, Queens, Knights, English History as well as something Scottish Highland these are some of the ideas, names and/or springboards offered from the last post:
  • Because it's main element is square within square, something Fortress or Citadel. (I liked this one because there's much to work with here. Now I haven't gone looking yet but that's a great angle!)
  • Something from Braveheart would be fitting
  • Sean Connery, he's a highland man (which I pulled out because he's quite the man but I can't really name my quilt Sean Connery... I mean I can but I'll get all distracted!)
  • Florida Highlander (which I really liked because it just cracked me up!)
  • Back On Track because it fits and it's clever
There were more ideas but these got pulled first. I have to take time and look at some of the Fortresses and Citadels out of the last couple of books I've read. I have one in mind. We'll see. Also really leaning towards "Florida Highlander" and "Back on Track." Oh, I love them all. I really do like "Sean Connery" but ladies, shiver me timbers!!!

Not "something from Braveheart" - you quilt should be named BRAVEHEART ... you have one, you share one, and your quilt gloriously reflects the qualities you admire ... so, it should bear the name "Braveheart" with honor.

OMG Sean Connery....too funny...I can just imagine the quilt incarnate of different famous hunks.....or just famous people in general...the conversation would go something like this......

Honey what went wrong with this quilt....

Oh nothing that's just Lindsey Lohan.

I love it!

Yuuummmmmmm! I love all things Sean Connery...better as he ages too. I equally like Braveheart (do you have that movie Karen?) I do not have an idea...except that I just love your Cheddery goodness and I think...maybe...I need to make some. Would that be OK? I dig the setting, too. OK? Or too copycatty for you? Hugs!

I LOVE the setting for the cheddar blocks! Quilt names are important but I've never been very good at them. How about Highland Fling (although Sean Connery Fling might be fun too)?

Like that cheddar setting very much. That's a talented person.

I like the name Braveheart...you are always so brave to make all the advance patterns and it always turn out so nice. The quilt with the 9 patches is a very nice idea for scrappy 9 patch blocks, I like it very much.

Love the setting for the cheddar blocks. Names can be funny. I find for myself, as some point- I just start calling the project something and that normally sticks, but there are occasion when I need to go looking for a name. I like Braveheart for the quilt. That was the movie my DH took me on our first date.
I also really like Florida Highlander as a name for this quilt.

Oh yes the cheddar quilt is great. I like the last two names as well.
I'd like no call Sundays too. We were bought up to respect Sundays as family days.

What a post! From yummylicious Sean Connery (shaken, not stirred)to that adorable cheddar block setting to the naming of Cabin Tracks, it's all wonderful! I'm not good at naming things, so I'll leave that to the other bloggers. I know - I want to call that quilt "MINE"!!! Hee......

No, nO, NO, no - Amy's Star's is the 7 sister's quilt... Once upon a time ago in Lee Haven, you had it's photo on the side bar - with some sort of "I don't have a name for this one yet" caption - I suggested, Amy's Stars & it sort of stuck - except that now I get 2 TWO Karen Dianne quilts!

The cheddar patch design fits you well. I personally like Florida Highlander for your quilt name.

Sure do love those green corner squares on your Back Tracks, they give uniformity to the quilt and a place to rest the eye.

That design for your Slice of Cheddar is you! Oh, is that another name to consider?
